Tomtom Complaint - Tomtom should be beten on

We purchsed a Tomtom XL-330-S at WalMArt on Tuesday, June 22. I seemed to owork okay on one trip we made across town, then the boom fell. When we plugged the GPS unit into our computer, the screen said an upgraded map was available. We clicked on the upgrade map button, and the thing sat there for about 20 minutes. The screen then said to enter the 11-digit promotion code to activate the map. we examned the box, inside and out and every scrap of paper that came with the unit, including the receipt from WalMart, no promo code. We now had a Tomtom with a grey screen and the words, "No Maps Found." After almost an hour on ignore, we got a human being who said he could help us resolve the problem. He lied. He sent an email with a link and instructions to fix the problem. They did not work. A friend of ours who is a computer whiz offered to try to help set us up, and he admitted defeat. As he put it, it was too 'techy' for him.
We ended up taking it back to WalMart, and to their credit, they refunded the entire amount, which included tax and the extended warranty. We then bought a Garmin Nuvi 205W. With one exception, we are thrilled with the Garmin. The USB cable for hooking it up to a computer is an optional accessory and costs $15 plus shipping. It should have been included in the box. It looks like it will be much easier to operate the Garmin. I agree with my friend now, Tomtom is cr@p.

Own a Tom Tom One which was working in perfect condition. Bought an actualized map to download and was not able to. I proceeded to contact Tom Tom technical support and after speaking to 4 techs and 2 super visors they managed to walk me through a bunch of deletes and reformats and redos, etc. Now my device is totally blank and is dead. It is not recognized by the computer and therefore I have nothing now. The response from technical Support was" Your device is out of warranty, so we can't do any thing about it". Now I'm left with nothing.....when all I tried to do is to keep it updated. They erased everything on the device through their techs and now just wash their hands......I WILL NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE AND I'LL BE SURE TO ANNOUNCE IT TO THE WORLD....BUY ANOTHER TOM TOM DEVICE.
