Farmers Automobile Insurance Assn Complaint - After Twenty some years with them...Lousy Service when needed! - Auto accident claim

Auto accident claim - Complaint
Review by nagatha on 2009-06-29
On my way home from church with grandson, I stopped @ a crosswalk (2 dfferent times people were killed at) for a lady crossing she was in the center island ready to continue across the other half (mine) Man on his cell phone in a big red Ford Truck slammed into my hindside catapolted us (grandson) and myself approx. 35-40 feet. My lil Chevy s10 was totaled, I received personal injuries whiplash and back injuries, we were rushed to hospital in ambulance, Mr. (blank wipe) recvd. a ticket for showing no proof of Insurance and following too closely, of which later we found out he has approx. 22 other similar serious (including battery) not yielding right of way, no proof, no license on an on offenses, mostly no Insurance yet he owns and operates a Bz locally. Since I've had nothing happen for so so many years of coverage and my lil truck was getting older 1995 and my rates continued to increase $5-$7 per year (tired of that) so I dropped to liability, especially since I don't go driving much anymore. I'd know my agents family for years, in fact I used to clean there house and make her bed when she was just a child till Daddy gave her his Title at Farmers, nxt step I contact Farmers the Agent I spoke with would never put me speak to my personal agent and offered help....which was ....nothing (is this a smoke screen? (For my agent?) Plus she was always short with me...granted I'm elderly and have a 13 second memory she was always brief with me and told me I had to do everything myself (it was all my responsibility) including calling the fella that hit me to inquire of him his Insurance cause he told the officer he had (Insurance but it just was not on him? Whattha why do I pay all this money for so many years to get this kinda response and non concern attitude from my Insurance. I truly was left feeling a waste of her time. Call the Courthouse, call the officer @ scene of accident etc. etc. She was impatient, and put me into even more panic it wasn't enough that I was very physically hurt already. In 30 days I still had not spoken with my own agent, just a medical aid person from another state contacted my on Farmers behalf. I've left Farmers never to return and changing to Geico. minus 5 popcorns for Farmers from Me (Thanks for the not so professional concern Farmers) Ba Bye now!

I am sorry for your problems, but you state that the only coverage you had for your vehilce was liability. You should have carried uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage on your vehicle. YOu are asking your insurance company to pay for a benefit that you did not purchase from them for this coverage period. Just because you purchased this benefit from them in prior years doesn't mean anything, the only insurance coverage you purchased was for damange to another vehilcle. I would see a lawyer about suing the person that hit you in small claims court to recover your expenses. Good luck.

spider is right, they cover your mistakes, not the other driver, that's why they have different levels of insurance. Your best recourse it a lawyer.

this is one case where suing is the right thing to do.

BTW, not your insurance company, the other driver.
