Amerigas Propane Michigan Complaint - Worst Customer Service I've Ever Gotten

Review by unhappy michigan customer on 2009-06-30
UNKNOWN CITY, OHIO -- I see that I am not the only unsatisfied Amerigas customer...I worked for a propane company for over 16 years and I can tell you that we are all getting RIPPED OFF....the tank fees, meter fees, blah blah blah. Did any of us sign up with them originally? Not me. Our company was an acquisition by Amerigas. They charge for service on meters that doesn't get done. You call and get a CS person then call back three minutes later and the person that answers the phone never heard of the first one you talk to. The calls obviously go to a call center and none of them can fix your problem or answer your question. They are quick to lock a meter, turn over accounts for collection while they are supposedly "working on your inquiry" and in general treat you badly. Does anyone know of a class action suit that has been started? Does anyone want to band together to start one. I don't believe we need to be treated like this, do you? I see this form asks for the company address. I believe their main office is somewhere in Ohio, but I have no idea where. They do not give out last names of the CS people. They bounce you around without much information on where they are. U

simply cancel their services, and find a new propane company.

Have you read their cancellation costs? 150$ to pick up the tank, a restocking fee of ____ per gallon left in the tank and whatever administrative fees they can dream up....

Get an adapter. Get all your friends that have 20# propane bottles. Roll the tank over. (You need to transfer the liquid) Be careful. Fill all the bottles you can. Roll the tank back upright. Send Amerigas a certified letter informing them they have 10 days to remove the tank. After 10 days they relinquish ownership and you will dispose of it in any manner you see fit.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have never heard of the 10 day and they relinquish ownership part?

unhappy, there is no legal basis for the 10 day part. But I would include it in the letter anyway.

From a legal standpoint a judge would probably construe that as putting them on notice and if they failed to act they would lose ownership. Companies get away with wording such as this and get away with it. Individuals should have the same right.

I work for ameriass 4 years they treat me just like you they dont care they buy out all small companies and boost the prices what they want.. For the people that have gas logs you are getting the big one. I seen some people paying $3.25 a gallon to $ 3.65 a gallon for logs.. dont pay that shop around to find the best price and service.
