Alan Jay Kia Complaint - Alan Jay Auto Network Sucks

Review by RickH on 2009-07-01
SEBRING, FLORIDA -- I visited Alan Jay Kia to buy a specific automobile from them. Even though my wife and I have very good credit, they did not want to wait a day or to to get bank approval for a decent interest rate. Instead, they tried to shove a high interest (18.24%) loan from some shyster loan campany down my throat. Needless to say I walked out on them and went to another dealer where I was given a loan at a rate of 4.9%.

If I never visit another Alan Jay showroom it will be too soon.

My first impulse is to respond by saying that this complaint is ridiculous. The Interest rate offered is not set by the dealership. It is based on what a lending institution offers. There is a possibilty of a markup on the rate, however, that is regulated by the lender and the state, limited to 2-2.5 point increase. (so, even if we did mark up the interest rate - which I doubt-, the rate offered by the lender had to be somewhere around 16% or more) Furthermore, since we sell cars, not financing, how much sense does it make for us to blow a potential deal and alienate a customer over a small one time profit? We want customers for life! This customer most likely does not have the good credit they think they have, or there was some other circumstance that made the loan they were seeking very hard to get. This customer probably should be glad that we were able to secure (any) financing for them! I am guessing that we are not the only business that has "disappointed" this customer. Bottom line is we want to sell cars and delight our customers so they come back and refer friends.
