DirecTV Inc Complaint - Fishy Fees - Faulty HD Receivers
I have had DirecTV for some time now. Living in a rural area, there are only two options for television. Recently, I moved from one side of the street to another. My home had two HD receivers and one Hughs receiver which was paid out. I phoned DirecTV to inform them of the move and was told I would need NEW receivers. When I ask why, I was told my receivers would not have reception at my new location. I was moving across the street! They were informed of this.
While moving, the two HD receivers, and a couple of other items were stolen. When this was told to DirecTV, I was told to provide a police report and the $245.00 would be deducted from my bill.
I did just that. I viewed my bill for this month and an additional $300.00 has been put back on. When I phoned in, I was informed the $245.00 was only for "failure to return fee"....not the actual equipment. I also asked about the insurance I have on the equipment and was told the insurance was for damaged boxes only and did not cover stolen property and I would still have to pay the additional $300.00. If the HD boxes are $240.00 each, what is the $300.00 for?
In all the previous calls, nothing of this $300.00 charge was ever mentioned. I was told with a police report, no charges would remain for these boxes. After being placed on hold to speak with her supervisor, she told me this was what I had to do by the 28th of June in order for the amount to be credited.
Now with the phone call yesterday, I was credited the $245.00 AND then charged $300.00 for the equipment. I honestly believe this is a made up charge that I should not have to pay provided the property was stolen from my home.
I have failed to see the charges mentioned in fine print on any forms from DirecTV. If anyone is aware of such, please let me know.
