Target Complaint - Wake Up
Made purchase 6/28/09 2:59 at Elston Avenue store. Had to interrupt a conversation between two employees in the check out area. Many lanes were busy but several check out station lights were lit but cashiers were not present. Several employees were standing around having a conversation. I pointed to the unmanned check out station with the lighted sign and asked if that station was open. Two employees broke away from the pack to ring up my purchases. Their conversation was barely interrupted by my presence. Their conversation continued throughout, eye contact was never made with me, the only actual direct interaction was to tell me how much to pay (for the product and to keep them employed). The words "Thank you" never passed their lips. I processed my own credit card payment and signed. The receipt was in my bag and they both returned to their friends, carrying on with their conversation, before I could even get my credit card back in my wallet. I can't say I'll never shop at Target again but if I ever encounter this behavior again. I'll just walk away leaving the Target staff once again inconvenienced by having to put away all of the things I rounded up and chose not to buy. There are a lot of other stores out there competing for the same $.
