DirecTV Inc Complaint - Impossible to deal with - Billing, Customer Service, Management
DirecTV is absolutely the hardest company to conduct business with on the planet. Thier customer service and billing dept is absolutely worthless.
I had suspended my DirecTV service (A customer of 4 years - never a missed payment and I had the premium package paying roughly $100 per month) because we were moving to a new state. I had accepted a new job and we were going to be in temporary housing. They said no problem, let me know when you have found permanent housing and we will get you reconnected. Great, no problems here.
Well, we purchased a house and it wasn't totally finished, so it was going to take a few months to get service up and running. DirecTV starts billing my credit card for monthly service. I called and asked them to wait until we could get our service connected. They said, no, we can't wait any longer, you have been suspended for 6 months and I now we have to charge you. So I cancelled my service and paid the $94.40 service fee for unused service. Now months later I am getting a bill for $137.89 for termination fee after I have sent back all my equipment and paid for service I did not use. They sent me to collections. I paid DTV about $5,000 in 4 years for service and they didn't have the patience to wait for my home to be finished and then they have the audacity to bill me $137.89 for termination. I just don't get their business practice. Apparently, after reading all these postings, we are criminals according to DirecTV. They have treated me awful and are threatening me 3-4 times a day through their collection agency. I tried to contact DTV directly to speak with them, and I get put on hold and sent around their phone tree for 30 minutes at a time and no one there apparently has the authority to speak with "dilinquent accounts" It's my responsibility apparently to write a letter to the collections agency explaining myself for why this payment is "late." What a joke. I tried to resolve this on my own months ago and now they conveniently can't help me. All I wanted was for them to eliminate the monthly charge of $94.40 for service I could not use, and that apparently is too hard for a customer service or billing agent. I even agreed to pay their termination fee, but not until I get back my monthly service charge that I did not use. My problem lies in that I paid for service I did not use at all....I wasn't even connected because I did not even have a dish on my house, yet they still want an early termination fee.
I would think a good attorney would take all these complaints and fraud that follows DirecTV and file a formal complaint based on consumer affairs. Someone needs to put this corrupt company in its place.
