Reed-Union Corp. Complaint - Misrepresentations on product packaging

Review by OdysseusDawn on 2009-07-08
This is an amazing example of a lying company and package. All the proof you need is right on the package itself. On the front, of course, in big, bold lettering the company makes the following statements: "NO RUBBING", "NO BUFFING", and "THE ONCE A YEAR CAR POLISH". On the back of the package, in small print (of course) the directions state: "...wipe off with clean, soft cloth" (I call that "RUBBING"!) and "For maximum protection [why would you want anything else?] apply second coat in 30 days." I call that TWICE A YEAR. These folks really think we are stupid! With all these lies, why would their product be any good?

I have just waxed one car with Maguiar's paste wax and one car with Nu-Finish. Although I will have to admit that the Nu-Fishish rubbing was a little bit easier, it was not by a very wide margin. If the product truly required "no rubbing" I could have just wiped it on and not had to rub it off. Right? This company is a total, blatant liar! Also, when I called Reed-Union, I found them to be completely hostile, with no customer service department and one rude secretary who was not even willing to pass my polite comments on. There is no doubt that their package lies big time!

Hmm. Interesting. Thanks for the heads up.

Rubbing and wiping off are entirely two different actions. Rubbing implies a back and forth or circular motion over one spot. Wiping off would be one sweep over a spot in one direction.

Apply again a month later achieves MAXIMUM protection. Doesn't mean you aren't protected if you don't apply again. Or that you have to re-apply again every thirty days for protection.

I don't see any misrepresentations.

NO misrepresentations. I have used Nu-Finish, and it is as it claims. Wiping and rubbing are two distinctly different motions, and NU-Finish does indeed simply wipe off, and does not require hard buffing as, say an old carnauba wax, used to. As far as the once a year, yes, you do have protection if you only use it once a year, but you get a deeper level of protection if you apply a second application thirty days after initial application. That is a one-time deal, and you only need to apply the polish once a year after that, not twice a year. If this is all you have to complain about, you lead a sheltered life. I used Nu-Finish on my patrol car, and drove it in the Arizona desert. Mud and muddy rain water beaded up and slid off the white car, and a hosing off with a garden hose was the only washing it required. Much easier to maintain.
