Ford Motor Informative - Ford Warranty
DUNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS -- I purchased a new year 2000 Ford Ranger.There have been many quality related problems such as: excessive play in the driveline, noisey AC compressor, defective front brakes, complete new front end(ball joints, etc.)Throttle Control valve, Tire recall, and a few additional smaller items. The above items were fixed under Ford's warranty. We also identified a problem in the 4 wheel drive system and a very noisey(many of Ford's 4 L V-6 have this problem) engine- both were identified and noted well within the 36 Month /36,000 mile warranty period. The dealer and I were both working under the premis that if a problem was identified while under warranty Ford would correct the problem. Turns out Ford will not take care of the 4 wheel drive problem or the engine. Ford says it is out of warranty therefore no coverage unless I had purchased their extended warranty. The 4 Wheel Drive issue was indentified well before the 20,000 mile mark, the engine noise has almost always been there. The fix for the 4 wheel drive has not been identified. Now at 39000 miles the dealer was prepared to try and identify and fix the problem, but Ford will not pay. Anyone owning or thinking about buying a Ford product needs to be aware that Ford is NOT standing behind their product or their dealers. If anyone wants additional information on these issues please contact me. It will be a long time before we will buy another FORD product!!!!
