Briarcliff Animal Clinic Complaint - Nasty, Mean & Overpriced

Review by FelineKind on 2009-07-09
DECATUR, GEORGIA -- People think this is a nice place because of its trendy & chic "boutique" ambience. But their care for pets is inferior to the many other choices in-town. They will not let you be with your pet for exams & treatment. This is because they restrain the animal and do not give sedatives. When you hear your pet scream bloody murder you know they are treating. Behind the scenes it is a cruel, nasty place.

They brought my cat to me in an old urine-soaked box and he had feces matted in his fur. The teens behind the desk giggle about this stuff. It's creepy. Dogs and cats are not boarded in separate areas so my cat heard dogs barking 24/7 and was terrorized.

They said my cat was at fault because he got mad during the above-described "treatment" in the back room. I will never go back.

This clinic is set up very similar to the ER clinic that I use here.

ER treatment is done in the back, and no, they don't allow clients back there either as its set up like a trauma center. They don't allow you back in the back in a hospital trauma center for people either...its just not conducive to what they are trying to do.

I think you meant to say that they don't allow clients in the back for ER treatment..not routine treatment.

From the pics online for Briarcliff they have seperate rooms for cats and dogs to board..they don't even look similar, different floors, etc. But if your cat was kept as a critical care patient, they may have them all together in another area (they do at the ER center that I take my animals to), and it can be unnerving for them, definitely.

At the same time, its the best way for the staff to keep close to them and keep an eye on them.

Sorry your cat had a terrible time. If your cat was difficult, they're not going to be able to be as hands-on with him the whole time..he may very well come back in a dirty and sad state, and I would be upset too, but the only alternative they have is to sedate him and clean him up. You don't want him sedated for ordinary tasks like that.

Probably the type of vet where, if you are not "Legally Blonde" or if you name isn't Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan, you and your pet will be treated like trash.

tho if the pet's owned by Lindsay ... I think "bad vet care" might be the least of the pet's worries. At least if Lindsay's the one driving it to the vet...

You can be with your pet for and exam or a shot at some vets, not this one. No parent would let the Dr take their child to a back room for a simple exam or shot. If you are with your pet they will be calmer.

As for the cats & dogs being boarded together, I saw it with my own eyes. Several dogs were boarded in the same room with lots of cats. My cat was terrorized.

I totally agree, for vet visits, I insist on being there. I would not take my animal back either. Again, I'm sorry for your kitty's trauma. :(
