World Hyundai, Matteson IL Complaint - POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
MATTESON, ILLINOIS -- I purchased an Elantra brand new on 5/26/09 after very heated negotiations and promises of lifetime free car washes, oil changes, remote start, and a spoiler I regretfully purchased the car. I had to go back to the dealership 3 times to get new temp/paper plate because they didn't file the paperwork in a timely manner so that I could get my plates.
World Hyundai of Matteson had my car for 8 days to install a spoiler. The car was returned to me with damage done to the driver side door; I returned it again for the panel to be replaced that took 7 days.
Day 45 of ownership the transmission went out, I was stuck in a parking lot with melting groceries. The nearest dealership Shaffer Hyundai in Merrillville, IN said "were all out of loner cars right now". I called consumer affairs for the third time to tell them that I need a loner car to get back and forth to work and they informed me that a loner car would only be covered under warranty if I was 150+ miles from home.
So today, day 46 of ownership I am paying on a car that has been at a dealership 17 of the 46 days I have owned it and have no way to get back and forth to work. In addition to the wasted money on a vehicle I have yet to enjoy I had to throw out groceries that sat in the car to long.
No one working for Hyundai that I have spoken to thus far seems to care, and I have yet to come across anyone that can help me.
I thought that purchasing a new car would be a fun experience and it has been the furthest thing from it.
I no longer feel safe driving this car, if the transmission is going out at 1600 miles whats going to happen at 16000 miles?
Consumer Affairs also told me that it is not a guarantee that this will be covered by the warranty until the dealership determines that it is a manufacturer defect????
What could I have done to this car in 45 days to cause the transmission to go out??
