HumanaOne Complaint - Nonpayment of ER visit

Review by tarynlovesyou on 2009-07-10
I went to the ER almost a year ago. My fiance and I were playing baseball and I ended getting hit in the head with the ball and suffered a concussion. Humana paid the hospital bill including the CT scan and everything, but refuses to pay for the ER doctor that saw me. A year later I'm in the middle of a 5 year medical history evaluation to determine if this was a pre-existing condition. How does an insurance company pay for the treatment but not the doc at an in-network hospital?

Humana is horrible, and their customer service never has a "supervisor" you can speak to. No explanations about why its not covered either. Avoid Humana.

Often doctors that work in the ED aren't affiliated with the hospital. Although the hospital you went to was in-network, it's possible the doctor wasn't. Of course you had no say in what doctor saw you and in an emergency situation, who cares? I'd continue to fight it.
