Hotwire, Inc Complaint - Where's my money? - Car Rental
A couple of months ago, I needed to rent a car for a business trip. Hot Wire had worked out in the past, so decided to give it another go.
I got what I thought was an acceptable rate and the blind rental process sent me to Enterprise. No problem with the rental and things went smoothly.
Then I got my credit card bill. Both Hot Wire and Enterprise charged me! I called Hot Wire and asked for an explanation. They told me to call Enterprise. Enterprise told me that Hotwire had not paid them, so they charged me. Hmmmm.
I called Hot Wire and they said that Enterprise should not have done that, they'd investigate, and they'd get back to me. Well of course they didn't, and I had to call back. Come to find out, it was all true. Great! Just credit my card for the charge and we’re done, right? Wrong.
I had to fax my credit card receipt and Enterprise receipt to (….get this) Hot Wire Research for review. So I got a receipt from Enterprise for the amount they charged my card and faxed everything to “Research”. The instructions directed that they would respond within 10 business days.
After 10 days, nothing. So I call Hot Wire again (BTW, their robo-phone system is pretty poor)and they tell me they never got the fax. Never mind the fax confirmation I received, it just wasn’t there. So I fax it again and call to make sure they got it. Yep. They’ll be back to me. In a few days (…admittedly, less than 10, I’ll give them that) I heard that they would refund my money with 1-2 billing cycles. I’ve already gotten a late charge……guess I should have done that differently, but who know?
So, they take the money at the speed of light but send it back via mule-train? I am miffed. And done with Hot Wire. This was way too much time, money and aggravation for this traveler.
