Bally Total Fitness Complaint - Awful company
When I joined Bally's, I knew that I would have to move within a year, and was told repeatedly by the salesmen (or personal trainer, whatever), that I could pay $50 to cancel my three year contract, or if my new home was over 25 miles away, then it was free. LIES. Obviously, this guy was out only for himself, and since I trusted what he said, it is my fault for being duped into signing that contract. Regardless, he lied, and it is to Bally's benefit for their salesforce to lie- because once you're in, they will find you and charge you, no matter what, unless you pay the entire membership in full.
The two clubs that I went to were disgusting. They do not take care of the equipment or facilities, rarely clean the bathrooms, and the pools are absolutely atrocious. Finally, after three years of paying their fees, I had to call numerous times to cancel my membership (they make you call AFTER the 3 years is up, you cannot pre-cancel). All of my phone calls had me on hold for 30+ minutes, which is just absolutely horrible customer service.
Now, 1 month after I canceled, Bally's sent me a BILL. This bill says that I have a payment due at the end of the month. I contact Bally's, to ask why they are billing me, and the response was that it is a 'renewal notice'. No, it was not- there is no term renewal, or optional anywhere on this statement. That was the last straw. This company is purposefully manipulative and deceitful, and have very poor customer service and business ethics. I highly dissuade anyone from joining their gym.
