I work for a hospital and I call insurance companies all day to make sure the procedure is covered before we procede with the patient. I called BCBS of Massachusetts and was told that they don't have medical staff and that I would have to read the patients policy to see if what was need for this patient was a covered benefit. This is not my job, or responsibility to read the patients policy it is the insurance companies job to review and inform me if the procedure is covered. I spoke with an associate, supervisor, and manager and none of these people know anything about medical policies even though this is their jobs. We have had nothing but trouble from BCBS. Most of the time their computers are down and you can't get through to find out anything on their policy and now they don't even want to do their own jobs.
I remember at one time BCBS was the top insurance to have. Now it is one of the worst.
