Right now I am disenchanted over the dealership fabricating a story to sell me a NEW tire on a Lexus w/ 18k miles. They claimed a nail had damaged the sidewall and the tire could not be repaired. A new one will cost $300 plus tax and installation. A search produced this same tire all over town for $189 to $217. But get this. We took the car to the nearest Michelin Dealer. The tire dealer removed the tire and showed me a small nail in the thread itself, easy and safe to repair. No new tire required. What TV station did the expose of repair facilities selling repairs which are not needed? Who would expect their local Lexus dealer to be so dishonest and 33% more expensive? But wait there is more. In fact so much more Lexus has lost 4 sales to family and friends which shows how short sighted they have become. The most egregious is the hybrid motor behavior characteristics, and failures, poor gas mileage, misleading representations by sale. Service has been schooled in providing excuses not solutions. Each complaint to service gets one of the following replies; "oh, that's normal" or "can't find anything abnormal" or "it is within normal range" What is normal is totally subjective. They have no instruments, devices or gauges to measure. The vehicle is not performing properly. Lexus will not provide any data. They refuse to discuss or provide printed materials to the consumer which they claim are for their use only. Are you starting to get the feeling they can't be trusted?
