Main Street America Complaint - Poor Auto Claims Service

Review by Ed_VA on 2009-07-16
KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- A vehicle insured by Main Street America hit a vehicle and pushed it into my son's car. The impact knocked the stereo out of the dash and caused some damage to the rear bumper and the plastic lens that is on the back of the trunk. The car appeared drivable but on the way home it began to "jerk". It took more than 8 days for them to accept responsibility (wouldn't have known it then except we continued to contact them). Their adjuster did not return two phones asking for updates. We finally had to call her supervisor. We took the car to a mechanic and the jerking was due to broken motor months. Main Street's appraiser claims this could not be due to the accident. Yes it is an older car (1994 Chrysler Lebaron)and I'm sure the mounts have wear and tear on them - however the accident had to contribute to the current problem. The condition did not exist until immediately after the accident. They refuse to accept responsibility.

The mechanic could not say if the accident was responsible for the damage . I certainly don't see how the appraiser could.
