The Fur Side Complaint - I would not use this groomer

Review by JGA on 2009-07-17
SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS -- We get our two goldendoodle pups (1 yr. & 10 mos.) groomed every other week. This summer, while we were in Sandwich, we had the most AWFUL experience with this groomer. Not only did the groomer injure our dogs, but she didn't fulfill all the services we requested or finish the job in a timely manner. We had an appointment for 10:30am and didn't get our dogs until 5:30pm and 7PM.

Our Goldendoodles are a long-haired breed (the male is wavy and the female is a tight curly) and have hair (not fur). The specific instructions were for the groomer to give the dogs a long-haired trim, shorten their beards, clean their ears and clip their nails and not touch their legs.

We were shocked and dismayed when we saw our dogs! The groomer shaved our female to the skin over her ENTIRE body including her legs, and was left very ragged. Both dogs were shaved to the skin around their genitals. Our male, while not bodily shaved, had blood wounds on his chest. One was the size of a 50cent piece and shaped like a heart. It looked like he had been “branded.” Neither had their ears cleaned or their nails clipped.

What happened to our dogs was cruel. We would NOT recommend this groomer to anyone.

Have you used this company before. Do they write instructions of what the customer wants before you drop them off. If you have the instructions and they are signed you should at the very least get your money back and perhaps have in injured pup checked by a vet and have them bill the grooming company. I'm so sorry to hear that it sounds so mean. I do have to say I love the names of your dogs species: Goldendoodles. I'm gonna go look them up in the web when I'm done here. Sounds like such a cute name. I really hope they will be okay. I know my dogs would get traumatized if I took them somewhere that turned out to be less then ideal. Good luck to all of you
