BOA Complaint - Bank Of America steals from their customers - Pending and Posting transactions

Pending and Posting transactions - Complaint
Review by marryme on 2009-07-17
My complaint is: if you have the money in your account, time of purchase, and the transaction is then made. Why in the world, would you then have a "pending" transaction. Why is anything "Pending" when YOUR money has already been debited from the (checking) account already. BOA blames it on the merchant. That the merchant can take up to a year to post the funds. WHO CARES! The merchandise was already purchased by the consumer. Now its left up to the bank to deal with that. You positively swiped your card for the merchandise purchased. BOA is also justifying this as, if you do not have the money to cover what was posted, in your account, it will then result in a 35.00 overdrafy fee. Completely unfair. Obama, banks are still stealing from this recessive economy. We will never get ahead or get away from these unfair business practices. It makes me want to cry when I think of how they are completely getting over on everday hardworking people. Unfortunately, Bank of America are not the only banks who are particpating in these unfair practices. Their CROOKS! Thats all I can say.

BofA has to receive the confirmation for the transaction from the merchant before the actual payment is made. Until that time it remaines as pending and the funds on hold. Once you swipe your card, consider the money spent. You are responsible for keeping track of your account balance.

What's unfair about being charged a fee for spending money you don't have in your account?

Read through you account agreement. There are sections in there that explain how BofA processes your debit transactions. Maybe you will understand

If you had the money when you swiped your card but not when the debit actually posted to your account what happened to it? Did you spend it again? Me thinks so.
