EDFund Complaint - 3rd Party Collections
RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA -- I filed my 2008 with my fiance and received a notice from the I. R.S. that a Collection Company named EDFUND had captured my returns dued to a student loan that I owed to SallieMae, in California. I contacted SallieMae and was told that the money was owed by my fiance and I had to deal with EDFUND. I contacted EDFUND and was told they can't talk to me because I am not on the loan and it would be considered 3rd party disclosure.
When asked for my tax return EDFUND claimed since she is listed on your tax returns I legally owed the account. How is that possible? I sent EDFUND a letter of complaint and they forward the account to another collection agency. I contacted that agency and complained about my refund and was told they didn't see any money applied to the account under my name.
So my complaint is aganst EDFUND for "illegally scamming" my portion of my tax reutrns and then avoiding to pay my diffrence by forwarding my fiances account to another collection agency knowing I can't involve myself because I'm considered a 3rd party.
I consider this an "illegal Collection Tactic" from EDFUND to collect as much money they can regardless who they take it from.
