Global Financial Consultants Complaint - Mortgage Modification Scam

Review by LORI3808 on 2009-07-18
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- Steer clear of this company at all cost. They make promises that they can modify your mortgage and that their service is 100% money back guaranteed. They will not send you any contract or info until you wire them their fee, which in our case was $1640.00 equal to one mortgage payment. Once they emailed the contract, I was not willing to sign because it had stipulation that would have not allowed us a refund if not satisfied or could not get us a modification. I spoke with them about my concerns and requested not to continue, they email a cancellation letter to me, I signed right away and faxed back. I called to assure they received the cancellation letter back and I was told allow 4 weeks for a refund. It has now been nearly 3 months, no refund and all contact phone numbers 4 of them are out of service or no answer. I have gone through BBB and now through the attorney general in my state to try to get my money back. they did absolutely nothing for us because we never gave them the info.

We are currently in foreclosure and could really use that money right now and I wonder how many others they have done the same thing to.

Flag one, they want the money wired to them. Flag two, you can't see the contract until you do. Anyone looking into a loan mod firm should probably be very careful right now, as most are proving to be sham outfits. Sorry for you, but it appears you found one and it doesn't look real good on getting your money back. Anybody who asks for money to be wired to them instead of taking conventional payment methods, or will not show you a contract before payment, flat out screams trouble. Hopefully your story may save someone else from being taken.

I have heard only horror stories about these kind of firms. They want money upfront and do nothing in return. I had a neighbor that almost lost their house to one of these kinds of firms.

If they insist on money being wired, they're out to scam you.
