Centurytel Complaint - Internet speed--Don't fall for the claims - DSL Internet
DSL Internet - Complaint
If you plan to get DSL from Centurytel, don't buy the hype on their web site. Just because they say "Up to 15 mbps", they don't really mean it unless your computer is in the same room with their equipment. I signed up for this service and I get about 4 mbps on a very, very good day. I'm about 10 blocks from their office.
They sent out 3 techicians who tried various things and told me that if they tried to get too much speed (above 4)it would keep kicking me off.
Finally, they said I should try the local cable company for internet service. Guess they don't care that my monthly payment to them is between $400 and $500.

If they are also your phone company they should have checked for 'noise' on the line. If they are not, then call and complain. That line about getting too much speed will knock you off is nonsense.
