Chicken of the Sea Complaint - Quality of my can reached a new low - Chunk White Albacore Tuna in Water

Chunk White Albacore Tuna in Water - Complaint
Review by Gret on 2009-07-20
SAN DIEGO,, CALIFORNIA -- Oh where, oh where are the chunks. So soupy it tried to go through the strainer. There was so little of it I couldn't make two decent sandwichs. I am so disappointed I will never get Chicken of the Sea again.
I read the can and wonder: "What is up with the soy?" Is that part of the goop that makes the water into muck?
Shame on you Chicken of the Sea smaller cans, and a lot less tuna per the size.
Good bye! No more for me.

Best way to go, is Solid White Tuna, in water, that comes in the packages. They cost more, but are very well worth it, and taste so much better. It also never has any mysterious looking weird stuff in it.

I agree with Skye. I introduced my dad to the tuna in the packets and he vows to never buy canned tuna again.

Havent bought tuna in a can since the pouches came out. Target has the Starist pouches on sale at least twice a month, great for stocking up.

Sure, at first glance, the pouches cost more. However, that is because you are paying for TUNA, versus WATER with a teeny bit of tuna mixed in.

I have to agree, the pouches give you more tuna and less water. You don't have to drain it and the tuna is very tasty and has the texture that fish should have, not goo.

I totally agree with the pouches. No mush.

I have bought the albacore at Trader Joes's and also the albacore in cans at Costco which was also not mushy. Does anyone happen to know the shelf life of the tuna in bags? (I think I have a couple at home.)

I use cans for tuna salad or kitty treats, so it doesn't bother me that its "mushy". I stir the heck outta tuna salad anyway.

kia, from what I can tell, you can relax about the pouches, they seem to be engineered to last around 5 years:

Thanks, Boki. Now I know they won't be rotting when I go back home. Good info.
