Verizon/Alltel Complaint - Verizon double billing during Alltel switch
My husband switched from Alltel to Verizon after his phone broke and he needed a new one. The store clerks suggested he make the switch to Verizon a few months early. They assured him he would have no problems and would be prorated.
Turns out to be a big lie. Alltel ended up charging him for a full month's service even though he had switched over to Verizon. Granted, he was three or four days into the new Alltel month but Alltel had already deleted his Alltel account. He called, omplained, and they agreed to remove the full month charge.
Then he got a statement from Verizon saying he had an unpaid debt and his phone would be turned off. Turns out Verizon denied Alltel's removal of the charge, and wanted him to pay both Alltel and Verizon for the SAME time period.
I don't see how this can be legal. It's definitely NOT right. So he canceled his contract and joining me on Sprint. This switch over has been nothing but a hassle. He spent over an HOUR on the phone tonight after multiple transfers. This is NOT how you treat your customers!
