Best Buy Complaint - Terrible installation techs
Over the years I have brought items to Best Buy to have installed into my vehicle. Car Stereos and whatnot they are decent for basic installs. Items such as Ipod connections very halfass in my opinion. I own a Kenwood Eschelon KDC 491 car stereo which unfortunately has the mini plug (aux in) in the back and just a USB port on the front. The cable I purchased to connect my Ipod uses both of these. Instead of asking for my input on the matter the installers decided to connect the cable with a short length of cable hanging out of my dash to reach the USB port and the rest of the cable dangling out of my glove box. The setup looks like crap.
Thinking that it was an anomoly and I just got a bad install tech. I decided to write it off and forget about it. That was at a Best Buy in Eden Prarie, MN
This past Sunday I went to a Best Buy in Salisbury, MD to have my Satellite radio swapped. Thinking it would be an easy install I told the tech that basically all that needed to be done was a swap of the antenna, addition of a FM direct connector, and a change to the mounting setup. I also requested that once he pulled the car stereo to install the FM direct connect I would like to have a mini plug extender put in so I may disconnect my Ipod cable on occasion and fix the messed up istall from previously. When I went to pick up my vehicle I was told that there was no mini plug available on the back of the radio (I looked this up in my radios owners manual and it does in fact have a mini plug in the back). Imagine my surprise when the antenna was also not swapped and I still had the old one in place. I did not discover this until I got home. When I called the installation tech he gave me a mocking answer of "what did I forget that?" So in the end I dropped $95 (thanks Sirius for covering $80 of it) and only basically received a step down power transformer and the FM direct connect installed. Completely halfassed install in my opinion. I am very upset being that the Best Buy is a 1+ hour drive and now I have to make it again to have my install fixxed.
I am now officially a member of the never go to Best Buy to have anything installed club.
