Bank of America Complaint - Bank of America -- Pure evil!
CALIFORNIA -- I recently was charged an exorbitant amount in fees ($420) for overdrawing my account by less than $50. A couple of years ago, I had signed up for overdraft protection using a B of A credit card. I have a primary and a secondary checkings account with the bank and was never told that I would need to link both accounts to the card if I wanted both protected so it was linked only to my primary checkings account. Recently, most my activity has been on my secondary checkings because I ran out of checks for my other account. I had written a check to a friend for something and had asked that person to hold onto it and I even post dated the check. Well, the person forgot and deposited it anyway and it posted, thus dropping my balance without me realizing it. I continued using my debit card for a number of small transactions (coffee here, gas there, etc etc) and overdrew my account by about $50. There were 11 transactions in the red that I was charged a fee for plus one fee for my account being overdrawn for over 5 days (I can't pull money out of thin air, people!). Despite the fact that the check was post-dated and despite the fact that I was NEVER informed that I would have to link each account to my credit card in order to have overdraft protection on both, customer service did NOTHING for me!
$400 is over 1/3 of my pay check and more than 2/3 of my rent! This is OUTRAGEOUS! It was only $50 dollars and I had to pay over $400 in fees!! This is usury! How on earth do they get away with this!?!??
