MAGELLAN Complaint - Don’t buy anything from MAGELLAN
Don’t buy anything from MAGELLAN
In December of 2008 I purchased two MAGELLAN 4250 GPS units. I immediately discovered that the data base was so far out of date that it did not even show roads that were put in service three to eight years earlier. I called MAGELLAN and was told that there were NO updates currently available but they promised me a FREE update(s) when ever it would became available. I was issued a reference number.
The update became available in June of 2009. I called with my reference number and was told that the 30 day warranty period had lapsed so no free update. I was then told that I would only need one update and could apply it to both units, so I ordered one for $80 plus $10 shipping. When I received the update SIM chip I found that it had to remain in the unit at all times. And although some of the glaring commissions are corrected, it is still full of errors
I WAS LIED TO TWICE. I will never buy a MAGELLAN product again
