Eco Cleaners Complaint - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
DALLAS, TEXAS -- I went to Eco Cleaners on Lovers Lane in Dallas after seeing a positive write up in Daily Candy on the new envirofriendly dry-cleaners. They claim to use natural, odorless, and nonallergenic cleaning fluids, but I don't think they really do. My clothes smelled just like the traditional dry-cleaning chemicals when I got it home. Not to mention it was just as expensive as going to one of the best dry-cleaners in town (ex. Bibentuckers or Avon Cleaners).
I also used them for alterations on a few items, one being a long black dress that I was to wear to a rehearsal dinner the following weekend. The pricing was exceptionally high for alterations, but I was there and thought I would give them a try. I asked if the original hem could be kept on the black dress, the tailor said that it would be an additional $5 to keep, which would make it $25 to hem the dress. When she looked at the dress she said that because of the material they could not reuse the original hem. I said that was fine. When I picked everything up I didn't check it because I wanted to keep it in under plastic for my road trip. When I put the long black dress on for the rehearsal dinner I realized that it had not been hemmed. The original hem was still there and it was way too long. Because it was the only thing I had to wear, I had to cut the bottom of the dress myself. It looked horrible, but I had no choice. Once I returned to Dallas after the wedding weekend I took the dress back to Eco Cleaners to get a refund for the hemming. They would not give me a refund and insisted that they had hemmed the dress! I was shocked. I looked at the 2 unfriendly employees and said do you really think I would have cut the dress myself if it had been hemmed? I argued the point with them, but they continued insisting that the hemming had been done. I wanted to speak with the owner/manager, Angela, who was conveniently not working all week and unable to be reached by phone. One of the employees finally tried to call her and he spoke to her in the back while I waited out front (he would not let me speak to her). He returned to tell me that they would take responsibility for fixing the dress "this time", but that the manager was 100% positive that she had hemmed the dress. I could not believe the horrible customer service I was receiving from these people! There is much more detail to this situation including a 2 day period where they had the dress and told me they would call me to tell me if they could fix it, but never called. When I called them they said they would not fix the dress and would not give me a refund! When I went to the cleaners to complain in person they said they changed their mind and said they would fix the dress, but would not give a refund and the owner was 100% sure that she had originally hemmed the dress. I told them even if the dress had been hemmed, the mistake was on their end because the measuring had been all wrong, but I pointed out that the original hem was still on the dress when I cut it. I could go on and on.
The point is: Eco Cleaners is over priced, not as envirofriendly as they say, and has horrible customer service. Don't go there if you can help it.
