Spirit Airlines Complaint - Don't be fooled by cheap ticket-it will cost you double!!
Please whatever you do, don't fly on Spirit. I had no idea how many complaints were listed-just read some and you will never want to fly on Spirit. I tried to explain that due to cancer surgery complications, I couldn't fly on the day I was suppose to. I couldn't reach a customer service representative for almost a week(no lie!!). I was placed on hold for 2-3hrs. When I reach someone and asked about what I should do to use my ticket in the future, the representative got nasty, refused to let me speak to a supervisor and said they don't have them at Spirit. I called back several times and was hung up on. They refused to give me an email or mailing address or the name of someone I could contact. I finally located the name of a spirit vice president who someone else posted his email due to their similar complaint. After several emails I kept sending, I got a response letting meknow that I had about $60 left from a $200 ticket. I was told that Spirit doesn't even consider a death certificate reason enough to change your ticket. They even charged for the baggage fee for my cancelled trip(they charged me for both ways!)
You may think their 9 dollar club fares are great too, don't join the membership, its a scam also. A friend got suckered in and found out it can only be used on days they pick and the return fare is never ever available for the same price.
This company should be put out of business. I cannot believe that no one has looked into their practices. I would be so afraid of their planes being safe to be in as I bet they aren't paying employees to inspect properly. How the FAA allows for them to stay running is beyond me. I hope that more people will complain to their local senators, and officials so something will be done to shut them down. Don't let your family and friends take a chance on the possibility of dying in an unsafe aircraft. Its only a matter of timebefore the illegal practices of Spirit Airlines will surface.
