Hyatt Hotels Complaint - Housekeeping Thieves - Housekeeping steals kids toys

Housekeeping steals kids toys - Complaint
Review by kleonard on 2009-07-26
Resolution Update on 07/26/2009:
The issue has been resolved by talking with one of the managers. She got the day staff moving and the kids animal was found in the housekeeping laundry department. It is exactly where we asked the night shift to look. I wish the night staff would have been more sympathetic to our request and not just pushed the issue aside and all this would have been resolved much sooner.
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- The Hyatt Place Hotel North West Medical Center in San Antonio has some housekeeping issues. They seem to have stolen a kids stuffed animal that has been with my daughter since she was born. It would not be such a big deal but the staff when we returned late one evening did not want to put any effort into resolving our issues. They just blew it off as if nothing happened. It may not be major to them, but it was to us. I would not and will not choose this hotel to stay at again.

could your child have left it at the hospital?

If a plushy has been with a child since birth then it's been chewed on, barfed on, sneezed on....

I can't really imagine a worker who'd really want something like that.

I think it's very possible it was misplaced, not stolen

I really have a hard time thinking that someone would steal a child's old stuffed animal. I would think that a more plausible explanation would be that it got lost or misplaced.

Sounds like it got wrapped up in the sheets of the bed. Did you think about pulling it out in the morning so this wouldn't happen?

kleonard, thanks for taking the time to post the resolution.

It sounds like you are upset that the night shift did not go digging through the laundry area in the middle of the night for a toy. To be fair, hotels often only have 1 or 2 people around in the middle of the night, which means that phones won't be answered or guest can't check in at the front desk if they are looking for left toys. If the animal was there at 3am, it would still be there at 7am when there are lots of people around.

But I wish the letter writer hadn't automatically assumed the staff STOLE the item.

I HATE when people do that.
Back on my first ship in the Navy, some girl had tossed her hat on my rack. I went to bed well after 10pm so it was dark... I saw the ball-cap and assumed it was mine (too dark to see any names) and just shoved it in the corner.

In the morning the girl asked me about the hat, calling it the "hat you stole"... Yeah. She misplaced the hat and called ME a thief.

So... yeah, i get a bit upset about people accusing others of being thieves when the item was never stolen in the first place. It's very disrespectful.

That tossing her hat on my rack comment brought back some memories of a girl I once knew. Thanks! She wore a 7 3/4 Stetson quite nicely.

it wasn't a stetson ... just a navy ball-cap. and in the dark it's impossible to see who's name is written on the inside.

oh and the "rack" is just a bed... stacked 3 high.

I'm glad it was found, but night ahift often cannot leave the desk/lobby area for ANY reason, especially if the hotel does not have front doors that lock.

I also can't stand the automatic "somebody stole it" accusation.
