DHL International Shipping Service Complaint - Horrible DHL International Shipping Service
I had to send the same parcel from China twice through DHL, with more than 1 month of total delay, paid 3 times of international shipping fee. For all the mistakes DHL made, they deny every part of their responsibilities.
For the first time, the shipment was sent in early June. We're at home the entire time. DHL staff didn't leave us any yellow delivery notices at the door. Without a single evidence they came, they first claimed that they had attempted THREE times for the delivery. Later after I filed the complaint, they first claimed there's no need to go back to a wrong address while it's been our only address and same apt# for the past 4 years. Then, they claimed the name was mis-spelled (by 1 letter!)? (Who's handwriting would that be certainly not by us since we type wrote the name and address??)... And of course, they blamed on the sender not put down my telephone number for them to call me. But who would put down any extra information if he's not asked to fill out?!
According to DHL, "since no one pick up the parcel", they had to "destroy" it. The sender was forced to pay an even higher shipping fee for them to send the same parcel ship back to China, and sent it again from China upon arrival.
So, to avoid any similar mistakes, the second shipment was sent to a different address under a public mail box #-- "PMB#" not "apt#" instead. Unbelievably, nothing saves our DHL driver from mistakes. In his/her very first attempt, the driver lied and checked "Final attempt" on the yellow delivery notice which was left at a wrong address. DHL again claimed the address is wrong. The address is absolutely correct, but they need to read the address correctly!
With the correct telephone number on paper, DHL still didn't contact me.
When I called DHL customer service to complain, the representatives didn't seem to think it's a big deal. I was told to just wait one more day -- After it's been delayed for already one month with all that back and forth shipping internationally!?
Finally when I got my package, I called DHL America asking for the reimbursement for the first round trip shipping fees. DHL America denied all the responsibilities with very rude attitude, and asking me to contact DHL China. From DHL China, the answer was even more unbelievable: "It's not our responsibility to leave any yellow delivery notice!.."
I don't know when it would end. But it for sure is a miserable experience to deal with DHL.
My decision is clear: I will for sure use other international shipping companies such as UPS, Fedex, and Japanese Yusen companies first. NO MORE DHL! Your poor quality of service speaks much louder than your paid advertisement!
