Bank of America Informative - Deliberately arranging purchases to charge overdraft fees
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Yesterday on 7/28/09 I checked to make sure all my purchases I had made with my debit card had cleared. My balance was a little over $1900.00 and all purchases were posted with no holds or pending charges. So I go to the local branch to withdrawal $1800.00 to which they charged me a $1.00 for who knows what. I make withdraw[ maybe 4 x a year so I don't understand what the fee was for. After the withdrawal I went to the ATM to double check my balance, I had already calculated what it should be. So I put in my info and balance is $1.00 less that expected but all is well. So after the withdrawal my balance is a little over a $100.00. Still no problem with that as I have nothing out or any auto drafts to worry about until next month.
Just a few minutes ago at 3:00 A.M. on 7/29/09 I went online surfing and decided to see what B of A was offering. When I logged in and saw my account balance was around $650.00 I was CONFUSED! How is this possible I think to myself. So I start going down the list of previous transactions. Then, I see it! B of A has rearranged my transactions so by the time the bank opens I will have at least 1 overdraft fee! What a crock of (insert dirty word)!! I have heard tells of B of A doing this but have never seen it for myself until now.
I definitely will be going to our local credit union for my banking needs from now on! UNBELIEVABLE that they do this to customers!
