Aarons sales and leasing Complaint - Turning down customers money.

Review by sassy1227 on 2009-07-29
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- I have been ill for sometime and needed help with my account. Aarons helped me. I was behind thousands and owed thousands to boot. I have since buy Gods grace been able to catch up my account and only owe maybe $900.00 now. My monthly payment is 386.00 total. Or 205.00 bi-weekly. I had 300.00 dollars. I offered the girl the 300.00. She tells me that they could not accept it. What? Pay the whole 386 or pay 205. I said you mean to tell me that you won't accept 300 and let me bring you back 86.00 dl? No you would end up paying more in the long run. Ok. My mind said to leave their store. But I payed the 205.00 Now when I was in the store an employee was hearing her tell me this. I contacted the store maneger and told him my story, he said that he would fix it. All this happened at the first of the month on the fifteenth they calling for a payment. I told them my story agin. They pretty much called me a lier and asked then why did I not keep the money to pay them. OK. Then they tell me that its not their responsiablity to manege my money. Ok. Called spoke with a reginal maneger. He tells me to bring in the payment by the end of the month. He also said that when you get behind in your payments they are not to harass, talk down to you in any way, they are to treat you like they did when you first rented your idems. For those posters who think that being late constitues herrasment. My thing is if you are trying to pay a debt and they refuse your payment are you still obligated to pay buy law ? And even after making arrangements with the reginal maneger they are still calling every day for a payment. And Aarons told the reginal maneger that I was lying to. I may get behind in my payments but I do not lie. I tell them when I am messing up. Thanks

You only paid the bi-weekly payment. So you did owe them the second half of the payment. They couldn't accept the $300 for the month because it was not the entire payment. They had no choice in this manner. You are responsible for the entire monthly payment not part of it.

Yes, you are obligated by law to pay your debt. Your bi-weekly payment is $205. Two weeks after that, you would owe another $205, that is why they were calling you asking for a payment. Even if you had paid $300, you would not have covered the monthly payment and you would have still owed money.

My monthly payment is 386.00. I offered her 300.00 and will bring in 86.00 more dollars to finsh off the monthly payment. She refused and told me that it would not do any good to pay the 300.00. So, she took the biweekly payment of 205.00 meaning i would have to come and make another payment on the 15. I wanted to pay for the month but she told me no. Becouse I did not have 86.00 right then. My question is, if you try to pay a debt and they turn down your money are you still obligated to pay?

'...if you try to pay a debt and they turn down your money are you still obligated to pay?' In this case, yes.

Those furniture leasing stores are such a horrendous ripoff.

I certainly agree, Boki. I can see absolutely no reason why someone would ever patronize them. You pay for the stuff many times over. Best to search out garage/yard sales and buy a little at a time. At least you own it and no one can come in and take it away from you. My Sis and niece are the queens of these places. When my niece is driving the streets of MD and DC, she sometimes finds things a home owner has at the curb for city pick up. She has some pretty sharp wicker furniture in her sunroom she acquired in this way and repainted.

Yard sales and flea markets are the way to go!

I think those rental places charges by the week! And once people start falling behind, it just gets worse and worse every week.

Plus I imagine they charge them for "damage" done to the furniture when it is returned..just a ripoff all the way around.

Thanks guys for caring. I think thats the problem, these companies have forgotten about customers. And only concern themselves with the dollar signs. But as long as these things happen if no one says anything nothing will change.
