Comcast Corporation Informative - Horrible Customer Service, pricing, and service.
BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA -- There is just no place to begin. EVERY PART of Comcast is horrible, EVERY part of it. I am a college student, and am forced to use Comcast at my apartment, however can compare it to my DirecTV service at home.
Their image: They like to brag in their adds that they have "the most HD" and they don't charge any equipment fee for HD. These are all lies. The most HD: they offer a grand total of 30 HD channels. 30. That doesn't mean you'll get all 30, some are premium channels. DirecTV offers over 70 channels in HD, over twice the HD channels (not including regional channels)!. Comcast's adds claim they have the most HD due to their (flakey) on demand service, which is a bogus claim. Plus none of their adds are in HD, which just makes them look bad since they are all talking about how much HD they have.
Comcast's customer service is horrible. It took me (and another person) 2 hours and 8 phone calls to Comcast to switch the account from his name to mine. Their customer service workers don't have any common sense, they just blindly read read out their website to you and don't listen to a thing you say!
So now the price. I'm looking at my bill for the month of May. There is defiantly a ""High Definition TV" fee of $7 on it. This is something they claim they do not do and Satellite does. They are lying.
I have the most basic TV package they offer. It is their Digital Started package. We get less channels than DirecTV's lowest package, their "Choice" package. But we pay more for it. DirecTV's Choice is $56/mo, my price is $60. Why do we get so few channels, and pay so much?
The service isn't reliable either. The TV goes out a lot. Ive had to call the repair man 2 times already, and Ive only lived here a month. It freezes a lot, and just completely dies randomly. Their internet service isn't any better. It dies every week or 2, and has affected my grades since everything is online at my school.
In conclusion, Comcast lies in their propaganda, DOESN'T have the most HD by far, has useless customer service, has poor service reliability, charges way too much, BUT has a monopoly in my area and exploits it.
