US Airways Compliment - Helpful When Needed
This flight happened back in April, but I felt that I should write about it on here eventually. I was flying from Philadelphia to Phoenix to Burbank. The layover in PHX was to be an hour layover. We got to our gate in PHL and was told that the plane would be delayed by 20 minutes. At first I wasn't too concerned, because that would still give us a 40 minute layover in PHX (which is still cutting it close). I knew that the flight from PHX to BUR was the last flight of the night, and that there was no flight from PHX to LAX later than the PHX to BUR flight as well.
A few minutes later we were told that the flight would now be delayed by an additional 15 minutes. At this point, I got nervous and went to the counter to ask what options I had. I wanted to know if we would still make the connecting flight, if they might hold the plane, or if there was a flight going from PHL to LAX that I could get on.
The lady at the desk informed me that there was no reason to worry, that I would get on the connecting flight without a doubt. She didn't answer my other questions and went onto the next guest. I was still skeptical, but went back to my seat.
A few minutes later we were told that the flight was going to be delayed another 15 minutes. I went to the desk, again to see if there was a flight going from PHL to LAX. She informed me that there was a flight leaving in a few minutes. If I ran, I might be able to get on if there are seats available and if the doors aren't closed. I ran and was able to get on the flight, no charge at all.
I was lucky to get on that flight because the original flight going into PHX didn't land before the flight going to BUR took off, so I would've been stuck overnight in PHX. The next morning, US Airways delivered the bags that we checked (when we checked in at PHL) to our door, free of charge as well.
