Sony Electronics Inc Complaint - SONY Customer Service is a nightmare
SPRINGFIELD, VIRGINIA -- I had a nightmarish experience dealing with SONY customer service. This occurred back starting in Oct. 2002 when a SONY technician worked on my 57-inch HDTV which I bought at BestBuy in Aug, 2002. The problem was originally a tiny red dot on the picture that developed into smears all over as the technician worked on it over several visits within a month time. It was causing a lot of trouble for me and time that I demanded SONY to replace the TV because it came with written promise that states "7-BUSINESS-DAY REPAIR OR REPLACE POLICY". This is aside from the standard one-year warranty. The lady at Sony Customer Service handling my complaint insisted that the TV cannot be replaced because the problem is cosmetic. How could a TV picture quality be treated as cosmetic? She tried in every way to give excuse that my TV cannot be replaced by giving stupid interpretation of "cosmetic'. She's so arrogant and stupid that anyone dealing with her would hate SONY.
Its a good thing I purchased that TV through credit card. So in Jan, 2003 I filed a complaint with my credit card company stating that Sony failed to fulfill their repair/replace policy. Without hesitation they (the credit card company) let me return the product to BestBuy and got a full refund.
