Arugula West Hartford Complaint - Owner can't deal with honest feedback so she kicked us out

Review by Tierd of bad service on 2009-08-02
CONNECTICUT -- This is a restaurant that we frequent and typically the food is pretty good, but has a reputation of providing poor service. For us the service has been hot and cold, but we usually just deal with it. On Friday, we experienced poor service, but this time was not quiet about it. When the owner/chef came out to ask "what our problem was" and we proceeded to tell her the waitress was rude, had an attitude, and we were not happy that we had to wait 45 minutes for our food, she became defensive. Understand at this point, the food had just been served, when she told us to "get out and never come back". OK, we got a free bottle of wine and a salad, but I was amazed that in today's economy an owner would actually kick patrons out of their restaurant for giving honest feedback.

Lesson learn for owners, don't ask for feedback if you are not willing to hear it!

i wonder what your attitude was like?

It does depend on the way you convey the information. By the fact that the owner had to come over and ask "what our problem was", say a lot about it.

What's with the 'today's economy' routine? You got free booze and salad, didn't you? I'd say that was pretty generous for 'today's economy.'
