pay-pal Informative - !!!BEWARE!!!!!

Review by dvsmadcow on 2004-06-09
Hey ya'll,
Heads up! My wife received an email from someone purporting to be affiliated with pay-pal. This person was wanting her to give credit card info to "update their records." She didn't give the info and sent the email to pay-pal to confirm this stuff. Believe me, the email looked EXACTLY like it was from pay-pal, but they advised that her account was current and in good standing! DON'T GIVE OUT ANY INFO IF YOU GET THIS EMAIL....UNLESS YOU WISH TO FINANCE SOMEONE ELSE'S SHOPPING SPREE! MOOO!

This happened to me also, one from Ebay and one from Paypal. Paypal will never address any one by Dear Paypal Member or Dear Paypal User...They will always request you go directly to their site and update any info.

This is a good thread. Ive also seen people complaining about it. Be careful.

It happens a lot now to me. I get constant fake emails from pay-pal and ebay that you would swear are the real thing. Like I said in a previous thread, NEVER use the link on the mailing. Type the site in manually and check your account that way.

There is also a real good one out there regarding ebay right now. They address you by your ebay user name and tell you that your account is suspended and your credit card info needs to be updated. It is the most official looking email I've received from all these cons.
