Comcast Corporation Complaint - Extremely High Rates and Very Poor Customer Service
PLANO, TEXAS -- I am a current Comcast customer. When I joined, it was AT Home. Then it became AT&T. Just when they figured out how to get the cable up and running without a gliche, they sold to Comcast. Since Comcast took over, we have had rate increase after rate increase. First it was a $19 increase. Then they grandfathered my package and raised the cable TV up $30.00 to get the same channels. However, my neighbor still has the same package and is still paying the same rate. I can't afford this much each month, so I dropped the movie channels and have very basic service. They charged me over $10 to drop the movie channels. When I received my bill, it was nearly $150. I decided enough was enough, so I called up to cancel my TV service. They offered me a deal I couldn't pass up on both internet and TV, so I stayed. Today I came home to find my internet service on one computer shut off. I called, and after 15 minutes on hold, I spoke to someone who could probably tell you how to make sushi better than he could assist me. He indicated I had an IP address I was not paying for. I dug up an old bill and lo and behold, I have been paying for that IP address since at least June of 2001. I telephoned them again, sat on hold for 15 minutes, and finally got through. Chris was just about as helpful as Keith, and said "no problem" -I will get this reconnected. I asked if there was a charge and he said yes - $4.95/month. I again explained to him that I've had that same IP address since at least 2001, and he indicated that was taken off a few months ago. He had not a clue why. After asking 5 or 6 times, and trying to clarify that I only had 2 IP addresses or one, I gave up. You're probably thinking that I should just disconnect the service. Unfortunately, our City has a contract with them and we have no choices except for a dish and a DSL line, which would entail more money. Since I now only use a cell phone, I have disconnected my phone and will have to reinstall it to get DSL. Quite honestly, I have never had the amount of problems with any company I have dealt with for this length of time. With Comcast, it's a NO WIN situation!! My advice to everyone is if you have a choice, think twice before becoming a Comcast customer.
