Continental Airlines Informative - They don't take care of you if they are delayed
Recently went to China via Newark on Continental Airlines. The 787 was a wonderful jet; the meals were very good relative to most we’ve had in the past; most employees were friendly. We enjoyed most of the trip until our flight out of Beijing was delayed due to weather. The Continental folks in Beijing assured us that if we had to stay in Newark, Continental would put us up in a hotel until our connecting flight could be arranged.
When we got into Newark, reality hit. Continental told us that they were no longer taking any responsibility for delays due to weather or actions out of their control, and that WE were responsible for our own hotel bills. Imagine, their causing our problems and us having to pay for it. We were shocked! When delayed by other airlines in the past, we were always compensated for their errors or delays.
I will not likely fly Continental again. I cannot assume responsibility for an airlines errors or delays. Do you realize how much that could ultimately cost someone??
Additionally, the folks at the Newark airport were most often rude and obnoxious, even some of the Customs agents. We will try to fly out of other airports whenever possible. We have been to China multiple times and never been treated like this by other airlines or airports.
