Ikea Complaint - No help, runaround - Exchange policy problems
I have been shopping at IKEA for over 20 years now but am very disappointed in their customer service. I recently bought a bed in the Charlotte NC store. I needed some help in the self-service area so I asked one of the store employees to assist me with locating the correct box that contained my bed. I wanted to make sure that I got the right bed because it was going to be a long drive and I knew I would be unable to return anytime soon if there was a problem. Unfortunately, upon arriving home and unpacking the bed I found that it was the completely wrong bed. This is when my Odyssey with customer service began. First, I called the number on my receipt and was continuously disconnected, then when I finally got someone they were unable to do anything for me but they gave me a case #. People were to contact me within 48 hours, but it took them 5 days. The representative who was assigned to me contacted me once and then said that they would be out for the next few days but someone else would be able to take care of me. Long story short I was passed around from one person to the next. All anyone could say was that in order to fix the mistake that had been made when they gave me the wrong item was that I should drive three hours out of my way to do the exchange. The only thing I have taken away from this is to Shop locally and support privately owned businesses they are more likely to try and make their customers happy than large companies where the customer is only a dime a dozen.
