Net Detective Complaint - Net Detective rip off

Review by cuica on 2009-08-10
When I signed up for Net Detective they clearly stated that I would be chaged only once. The service not only doesn't work, once you've paid for the service they ask you for more money then it woill work...not. It never worked I couldn't even find my own background info on the service. They also continued to charge my credit card for months. I had make numerous calls to the credit card company and to Net Detective, each time they assured me the monthly billing charges had been resolved and I would receive a credit for the 30 dollars a month that continued to appear on my credit card statement. That was a lie. The credit card company was looking into it for a couple of months when really the only way I was able to resolve the monthly billing charges for a service that I didn't use/ couldn't use cause it doesn't work, was to cancel my credit card.

I'm a member with Net Detective...the one time fee is only for the Standard Service License Fee...it is the Premium Service License Fees that charges each month.

If you tried out for the Introductory Period for three days, then you will be changed monthly for the Premium service. You can cancel, but will not be refunded for that month, unless it was charged after you canceled.

You can contact them at:

When one purchases the Netdetective's standard service it quickly alterts you to the fact that the service really does work and what you need to do is purchase the Premium service for an extra fee. I did that and quickly realized that service also doesn't work. I tried to cancel immediatly. So I not only was not refunded for the initial charge I was charged for 6 months after until I canceled my credit card and you could no longer charge me. Why don't you offer me a refund now?
You know I never used your service, that I only tried to use it twice, you have that on record I know because one of your customer reps. said "Oh I see you only tried to use the service 2 times that was in September of 2008." Your company charged me 30 dollars a month a total of 210.dollars till I canceled the card in March of 2009.
Netdetective is a rip off. They don't provide a service and you'll never get rid of them....watch out!

Well you may be a member of Netdetective now but the day you decide you want to stop being a member is when you will have some trouble. They will keep on charging you even when they have assure you your membership has been canceled.

It's been quite awhile since I joined and can't tell you when I was even on there last. But I haven't had any monthly charges. That's why I said, they may have changed things since I was a member with them.

My my, but you make it sound so easy. That wasn't my experience at all, as I stated before even though I did not use the service, didn't want the service, I could not stop Netdetective from charging my credit card. Months of bills, many emails, tens of frustrating calls and the only way I could resolve the problem was to cancel my Bank of America master card that I had since 1986. If I didn't I'm sure I'd still be getting monthly bills.
