Wal-Mart Complaint - Former Employee!!
COASTAL TOWN, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Well let's see, my wal-mart journey began 2 years ago. They promised me that it was a big family here at wal-mart. Well 2 years later I can't believe I lasted that long. First of all, I was hired as a cashier in lawn and garden. After a year I wanted to be on the sales floor-ok no problem they said. Well they put me in the housewares department, which I had no clue where anything was. Then I wanted to go back to lawn and garden. So they told me that I can go back there but I won't be a cashier-perfect just what I wanted. Well of course that didn't last long. They were short staffed and I had to give the cashiers their 15 minute breaks. Which meant that my break had to come after everyone elses. So whenever a cashier would call a CSM to send someone down for a lunch break they would say "oh well we don't have anyone you just have to tough it out!!" The so-called management team is a joke. They don't beleive in the open door policy at all. They just say "oh ok well we'll see what we can do." Of course you don't hear anything. So what really made me decide to quit was an incident with a co-manager. I was in the breakroom on my break and a CSM was in the smokeroom and opened the door and asked me if I was on lunch. I said "yes," he gets on his little walkie talkie and tells her "she is on her lunch." The co-manager then YELLS over the radio that I should'nt be back there on break when there are cashiers that need a break first, and that she needs to find out why I am back there. Ok so there are about 12 people in the breakroom that hear this also. How embarrassing it was. Everyone around the store heard it because there are walkies all over the place. I was going to call the regional human resource person, but they called me into the office. The co-manager said,"I apologize for talking about you over the radio, but I don't apologize for what I said." Now I am not a violent person, but I could have slapped her in the ugly face!!! She is very unprofessional and I really don't know how she is holding this position. The store manager doesn't even speak to associates only a select few. Wal-Mart is getting too big, associates are not people anymore they are dollar signs. If you are a current employee be careful, I believe that eventually they will cut hours so that everyone is part time and no one will have health ins. They don't want to pay!!! Poor Sam Walton, I bet he is turning in his grave-seeing what his once great company is turning into!! Thanks for reading!!!
