Breyer's Complaint - Ice cream that refuses to freeze.

Review by fuzzy buzzard on 2009-08-13
Why does Breyer's insist on sdding Tara Gum in their once perfect ice cream? My family bought Breyer's, because it tasted like real ice cream. This grease that they pawn to the American public, is not any better than the generic ice cream from Kroger.

I heard Blue Bell ice cream is available in a few states outside of Texas now. That's the right stuff!

What C2O? You mean there are other states besides TX?

Seriously I have a thing of Breyer's strawberry ice cream in the freezer that's been there for almost 4 months. I don't know what they did to it, but it tastes like garbage. The texture is horrible, the flavor is off, and it's got a gritty feel when you eat it.

If you have Dreyer's, they still have the pure stuff--unless they changed since I've been gone. I hate the additives they put in ice cream. Why? Alden's is sold in the NW in the health food section at our Krogers. Now that is the best ice cream I've every had--except homemade. So, check those sections of your store--you may be surprised. (Alden's was much denser so a half-gallon lasts much longer. So it costs more, but you get your money's worth.)

Blue Bunny is awesome!!!

fuzzy is correct...Bryers used to be wonderful and now it "pills" and breaks apart as you try to scoop it. Totally ruined. Taste AND texture. Bryers fails at both.

My dad was a huge fan of Blue Bunny. He was diabetic and that seemed to be the only ice cream he could endulge in without screwing himself up. He always got vanilla.
*gobbles some of the Blue Bell she's hidden for herself*
I MIGHT give some to those that are deserving... MIGHT. :-)

Haven't had Breyers in a while, but I'l stay away. I too like blue bunny and turkey hill ice creams. Frozen yogurt from a local stand is my favorite though.

I've been buying Blue Bell or Mayfield's. Both are pretty awesome. Last time I bought Breyers I was not impressed. Tasted like oil or grease.
