e.patterson Complaint - Collections? - america online

Review by ep617 on 2004-06-19
BOURBONNAIS, ILLINOIS -- We cancelled our AOL service, and switched to another provider about a year ago now. Today after never hearing from AOL we receive a letter of collections from an agency for AOL, for unpaid services. What services? Aren't companies/creditors supposed to notify you about previous attempts to collect a debt owed before a claim to collections is submitted. All of this sounds really screwed up! I have left messages with the Agency listed on the letter and AOL and am waiting to hear from them.

The same thing happened to my boyfriend. He called the Better Business Bureau and they made AOL pay him some money. However, AOL still shows up on his telephone bill and sends him "balance due's." Also, when he called AOL, they told him he never cancelled the account! What crap.
