Sydney, New South Wales Complaint - Don't drive or park in SYDNEY. They will ding you a fortune!
Sydney has become the rip-off capitol of the world. We parked in their little China town in a zone that had two signs, one which said Loading, the other which said Parking 10 to 10. We asked two locals if it was legal to park their - the one was in a van who just parked. They said sure. You just have to buy a ticket.
He showed us where to get it, I did, and as would happen, within 10 minutes some zealous meter maid stung us for a $135.00 ticket.
I wrote the government, asking for an explanation and waiver, enclosing a photo of the sign. They, of course, just send a demand and court date back.
Australia is MORE EXPENSIVE THAN EUROPE. The lowest motel room was $99.00, Petrol was around $7.11 a gallon, food was high and services as we drove around the country have deterioriate.
I've been to Australia twice before and it was a nice place to go.
WE'll NEVER GO BACK - go someplace with some culture and history and save yourself the 16 hour flight!
