Bill Me Later Complaint - Bill Me Later SCAM according to Amazon
Last November I purchased several books on Amazon with a gift certificate. The total was $15.63 over the amount of my gift cert. and I was offered a Bill Me Later option which I assumed was part of Amazon.
I received the bill in the mail after the stated due date, so I paid the $15.63 I owed. Ever since I have been receiving bills from them with late fees and annual percentage rates up to 180%.
The latest bill is $150.00. On what planet would someone pay that amount on a $15 bill?
I called the company but their reps are terse and repetitive (IE you owe us the money, pay it). I did a search and found tons of reviews and complaints from those with similar experiences to mine.
I discovered that Amazon stopped using Bill Me Later and assumed it was because many complaints about their practices. I called Amazon today and spoke with a supervisor who explained that Amazon only used Bill Me Later for a few weeks until they discovered the company was a total scam. They advised me to do what I have already been doing; to ignore Bill Me Later, do not contact them and do not give them any info about yourself.
