Avis Complaint - Expensive Scratch
FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- I rented a car from Avis that was booked online for rental in Germany that was booked here in the US online. THe rental rate was $598.00. Supposed to be all inclusive price in US dollars. This also included the basic insurance due to the fact that Germany does not recognize any US auto insurance fro driving purposes. When I got to the airport (Frankfurt Germany, Terminal 2.) I was told my reservation was at Terminal 1. THe agent told me I could either walk to Termainl 1 or get a car there that would be one class lower than I reserved. I asked would the price be lass, and was shown the price by the agent, and it was lower than orrigianlly quoted. When I returned the car, I was told it had a scratch. Photo's were taken ( By both me and the return agent.) and a slip was handed to me by the return agent charging me 800 Euros for the damage. When I disputed the claim, I was told to go to the counter inside. The agent inside told me mt card was being charged $1489.00 for the damage and the rental. Let me tell you I felt just like a gun had been placed to my head, and robbed of my money. Afet all apeals to these charges, I was given a $6.00 credit, and told there are no other apeals that can be made due to the international rental. That is why I am writting this. To let people know, do not rent from Avis in Europe. You will be sorry as I am. I have rented from German rental companies in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.
