Residence Inn Complaint - I was just asking for information only
About a month ago our local Marriott Hotel was completely damaged by a fire. The security company that I was working with got the contract to secure the damaged hotel. Not far from the hotel that we was assigned to secure, there was
another Marriott hotel that we was to use for restroom breaks, or to get something to drink. We was also offered a complimentary breakfast. After I did several shifts at the hotel, I began to talk with a few of the customer service employees at the other hotel. I stated to them that I was really impressed with the employees, appearance and cleanness of their hotel, and asked if they had discount rates for officers or military personal. I was told "Yes". The female employee that was assigned behind the desk even left the front desk to show me and my husband some of their rooms. (Keep in mind that she was the "only" employee assigned to the front desk at that time). A day or two later, I was given the discounted price by the manager of the hotel.
A few days later, after my husband and I had returned home, we immediatley noticed that our electricty in our neighbhood was off. I called the electric company and got a recording that they was aware of the problem and that they was working on getting the electricity back on, but didn't know exactly how long it was going to take. Because it was late Saturday night and my husband and I wanted to get showers for church the next morning, I called the hotel and asked if they had any rooms available, and if I could still get the discount price I was quoted from the manager. The person I spoke with didn't know what I was talking about and stated that they didn't have discounted rooms. The following day I was informed by my supervisor that I was to be relieved from the hotel site permanently. When I asked why, I was told that I had asked about discounted rates.
I feel that there is a huge misunderstanding from the hotel management, and that I have been removed from my security assignment based on wrong information. I feel if the hotel didn't want to give us discounted rates, then why did the manager (herself) give me the discounted rate price?
