Kelly Nissan Complaint - Kelly Nissan In Oak Lawn Will Not Give Me My Cd Player

Review by carlivit on 2009-08-19
Approximately five weeks ago I purchased a 2005 Sentra from Anthony McNamara who was working at the Kelly Nissan dealer at 4300 West 95th Street. Part of the reason why I bought the car was that I was happy with the salesman who had also sold a car to my sister (he seemed trustworthy). The car's CD player ate the first CD I put in on the first day, and Anthony said I he would put me down for an appointment to get it fixed. The car was certified so everything was supposed to check out.

That Friday, the parts person said that he could not fix it, but he would have to order it from the manufacturer, and it typically takes a few weeks to get a replacement, and that he would call me when it came in. I have been calling every week to check up on it, and they always tell me it's on back order. Last week a parts department man called the manufacturer and he said I was moved to the top of the list but it is on back order and it would take a few weeks (which is what he told me a month ago). When I told the floor manager that I was going to complain to the better business bureau, he did not seem overly concerned and he said "people have done that before."

The salesman who bought me that car is no longer with the firm, and at this point since the company already has my money I believe that they want to wait it out and frustrate me until I stop asking for a replacement. Can you do anything to help? At this point I would not recommend that anyone buy from them.

There's always the option of buying an aftermarket radio/CD player and having it professionally installed, if you can't get the one from the dealer.

First the OPs phone number needs to be removed.
Second, if you have a written promise to replace the CD player than you have some leverage. If there is another Nissan dealer in your area call their parts dept and ask to see if they have one in stock. Don't say a word about the dealer you've been hassling with. If they have the player or can get one quickly you could them call Kelly Nissan and give them a 'heads up'.
